Picture Frames // September 29th, 2024
Picture Frames is an experimental, ongoing art project Shaan Chhadva started at age 21. It’s the musical equivalent of a time capsule, documenting his adult musical life with a yearly album. Each album follows two key rules: everything must be started and finished in a single day, and every track must be recorded in a single, honest take. He embraces raw imperfection in this project, capturing moments of creativity without polish, re-dos, or editing. He often record the songs directly onto a vintage tape machine to preserve their unfiltered authenticity. Each track is titled with the exact time it was recorded, turning the music into personal timestamps of his life.
What emerged on September 29th, 2024 is sparse and unhurried — an ambient, experimental record that lingers in the in-between. Each track is a time-stamped fragment — a quiet photograph of a moment. A slow piano figure at 12:26pm draped in accordion and Mellotron haze. The dusty pulse of an OP-1 and electric guitar in the early afternoon. Sparse piano sketches in the late hours, the brittle hush of Mellotron chords after midnight. Even a brief meeting with a drum machine and voice at 7:46pm feels half-lit, as if overheard from the next room.
It’s music for late hours, when the air is still and the day feels far behind you.
