Bedroom // The Structure of Everything

WASIP-002

Released: Nov 22, 2024

Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist and ambient producer Adam London has been releasing music under the artist name Bedroom since 2017. With three albums, three EPs, and multiple singles, his discography is full of lush and atmospheric sounds. Often guitar-driven, often angelic, often up in the clouds. Drifting far away. After taking some time off from releasing music, Bedroom is back with a brand new album, his first project since 2022. In his own words, "Sometimes, silence is the loudest sound." His time away from music was a "much-needed break" to recharge and reflect, with his short hiatus deepening his creativity and allowing him to refine his tranquil and soothing sound.

His new album The Structure of Everything is a welcome return. A six song, 20 minute offering, the project is densely layered yet never overwhelming or jarring. Instead, from start to finish, it feels calming, soothing, soaring through the heavens, gliding through the sky. His ambient compositions take on drone elements meant to soothe. They are nothing if not calming through and through. Perfect for relaxation, focus, or daydreaming. Soundtrack music to help you drive through the night as well as background music to help you study. Layered guitars slow dance with synthesizers and field recordings. Both cinematic and full of passion, pressing play will feel like stepping into a slow motion scene. It's artful, tasteful, and deep.

Opening track "Remnants of Complex Objects" feels like sitting on the tarmac, hearing the airplane engines quietly begin to roar, and taking off into the quiet beyond, while closing track "Above the Tree Tops the Full Moon Hangs in Blue Skies" feels like beginning your descent and softly landing back to earth. With poetic and immersive wording, the song titles enhance the listening experience. Mentions of the sky, of flowers, of dreaming, of treetops, and full moons. Each track on The Structure of Everything unfolds like a subtle revelation, gradually pulling you deeper into its layers. There’s a blissfulness between organic and analog, guitars weaving effortlessly with the warmth of synths and loops, creating a sonic landscape that feels both timeless and present. It’s an album that invites you to slow down, breathe, and release. If you close your eyes, this album will take you to a place both familiar and faraway. Ancient and modern and futuristic all at once.

Despite recording in Chicago, Bedroom's sound has the ability to fit anywhere. Alongside glaciers in Iceland, next to Yellowstone peaks, up in a satellite orbiting the earth. It's a welcome escape. One to play for when you're going on a road trip and cruising down an open highway. Or when you're practicing meditation in the confines of your home and sinking into a moment of reflection and understanding. Or when you're guiding a yoga session in a cabin in the woods, leading a mindful retreat deep in the heart of nature. Regardless of the activity or the anticipated backdrop, Bedroom's new album is the perfect accompaniment. Pressing play and listening to The Structure of Everything feels like being part of something larger than yourself. Like tapping into a universal rhythm where all boundaries dissolve. An interconnectivity throughout humanity and the natural world. An invitation to feel the pulse of all things living. Landscape and dream and the spaces in between.
